This was a tough month spent dealing with the side effects of the second dose of the rotavirus vaccine and battling the sleeping issues. But also a month with so much joy seeing little O becoming more aware of the world!

Development

  • Will spend a lot of the time under his playgym, grabbing things and moving them around, enjoys his Babybjorn seat as well.

  • Is interested in lights, colorful things and the big sister.

  • Is generally very active, moving his limbs all the time when put on the ground. Entertains himself on the ground very well, it is easy to get stuff done then.

  • Has generally a good mood, is smiling a lot and cooing to things and his toys.

  • 3 mo 2w started grabbing for things when on the belly.

  • Puts his hands in the mouth the whole time.

  • Wants to roll but can't do it yet.

Feeding

  • Still breastfed plus formula, around 400 ml supplement per day (formula and EBM).

  • Went through a phase of refusing the breast at daytime (breastfeeding strike?), that was very tough.

  • Had troubles eating due to the belly pains after the vaccine, also most likely had a stomach virus with frequent diarrhea and gassiness when drinking.

  • Stopped pumping at night (3m2w) but will pump 2 times over the day.

Sleeping

  • Is tough mainly but last days have been better.

  • Naps 4 times a day (but looks like he is transitioning, as couple times he napped 3 times), awake time 1,5-2 h. Can't fall asleep independently in his own bed, needs to be rocked or patted to sleep. I have succeded patting him to sleep in his own bed only a couple of times.

  • Started doing the naps in his own room in his crib (3m3w). Moved him there for the night as well.

  • Will fall asleep in the carriage but naps only 30 min to max 1,5 to 2 h (last only once) so it is hard to plan the walks. Bough a Sleepytroll rocker and have used it successfully only 2 times. Hopefully the time will come.

  • Rescue is still the carrier, he will fall asleep in it quickly but now mainly only when I go walking outside with him.

  • Cries before naps (the night sleep) shortly.

  • Has 'false starts' of waking up 45 min after being put down for the night. Looks like these are schedule related. Not every night has one.

  • His night starts anywhere from 18 to 19:30, will sleep until 6:30 or 7 am with 2-3 feeds. I attempted a dreamfeed but we haven't gotten this established yet.
