Development

  • started scooting 1 day after turning 7 months old and is pretty fast and unstoppable. He likes to pull everything off the shelves and then investigate the items by putting them in his mouth.

  • Is really trying to get up to his knees for crawling but this is proving to be difficult.

  • Rolls but suddenly forgot that and now we are practicing again.

  • Puts absolutely everything in his mouth, holds items with 2 hands and occasionally with one hand.

  • Sits without support for a short while but can't go to sitting position without placing him there.

  • Was babbling for a short while after 7 mo birthday but is focused on screetching sounds at the moment.

Feeding

  • has 3-4 bottles per day, about 120 ml breastmilk (fresh and frozen) and the rest as formula.

  • I have built off pumping somewhat (since this week only morning and evening) and pump not more than 90 ml a day. Pumping at work was hard as there was not a suitable place and my agenda is really busy, plus I pumped less and less since weeks. I think I will stop pumping upcoming weeks before the summer holidays.

  • eats breakfast (porridge and fruit), lunch (vegetables and pureed veggies and protein (Mama Deli meals)) and dinner (some food we have, like pasta, rice, potatoes), and has water from a shot glass and straw bottle next to these meals. He likes trying different foods, his new favorites are kiwi, potatoes, lasagne and asparagus, but also breadsticks and pasta). When we are on the go, he would have some meal in a pouch, like apple sauce or oatmeal, and corn sticks

  • Is very distracted during solids, there is so much to see! Likes to feed himself the most.

Sleeping

  • a big one, he transitioned to 2 naps from 7,5 months! He sleeps through the night around 70% of the time, otherwise he wakes up around 4 am, and if not settling, will get a bottle of 120 ml; it takes a lot of time to get him to fall asleep then though.

  • Wake windows: 2-3-4 (up to 4) h.

  • Now he mostly makes the transition of 45 min in bed on his own. If not, he needs some patting on his chest. Sometimes, he gets taken for a walk in the stroller for the 2nd part of his nap.

  • He sleeps about 3 to 3,5 h at daytime and around 11 h at night. Obviously, he has lower sleep needs than M.

  • Sleeping in the moving stroller is going better as well, but still not always longer than 45 min. Sleeping in the car is going way less well than when he was small, now he needs patting-pacifier-me sitting there with him to fall asleep. On the day we drove to Eindhoven for his dad's PhD defense, he only slept 45 on the way there and 1h20 m on the way back (plus 1 h in the stroller over there).

  • Uses a pacifier, now attached to a knuffeldoekje.

  • We still use the Fedde&Kees linen and Puckababy sleeping bag, now without the sleeves as it is pretty warm here.

General

  • Loves: his big sis (will stare and laugh at everything she does!)

  • Statistics: is transitioning to size 74
