Recently, we purchased two open bookshelves for M so she can choose her own books with an idea that it will make her look at them more. So far, we see that especially the one we have in her bedroom works just like that. Now, it is a part of her bed time routine to shuffle to the shelf with her sleeping bag on and choose 3-4 books after another to look at with us.

I am planning to rotate the books every month and show what we are reading at the moment.

Bookshelf downstairs:

Upper three rows are all books about animals, the lowest row has two books about learning colors (next goal) and two books for learning words. There are 17 books presented: 9 books are Estonian, 7 in English and one technically in Dutch (but has no words, the puppy book).

She tends to choose the books on her eyelevel, so we will rotate them more. so far, the favorites have been the book with farm animals and the book with pets where you can feel different structures and books of Estonian birds and forest animals.

Bookshelf in her room

There are 16 books in the shelf, of which 9 in English and the rest in Estonian. I've used different themes, but there are two books about winter (Brr!Brr! and Snowy Animals)

The absolute favourites are Old Macdonald has a farm (which she can sort of sing now), "Molli maailma aarel" (translated book in Estonian about a creature going on a trip, all about feeling and friendships, very beautiful artwork!) and "Kurru-nurru vurrud" (of a cat, actually this and the book next to it are far too advanved, too long, too many words, but it is good to try).

She also picks the book Global Babies and the books about vehicles ("Soidukid" and "Things that go".
