Little M has been with us for 2,5 years already. She is such a big girl now. I will tell you all about it!

Important

- She has been out of diapers for a little over 4 weeks now (knock on wood!) and wears her "sleep pants" only for naps and night sleep. Her grandparents from Canada did the second round of potty training and that has gotten us so far. We used the Potty Training Book which is (overpriced, but not complaining, we got there!) a set of stickers, a little guide book and some other little things. At daycare, she still has some accidents but at home almost never anymore. I hope that it will keep going like this.

- She knows how to count to 10 in English (but mixes up the numbers) and to 5 in Estonian.

- Still interested in letters, recognizes the ones of her own name. We have a magnetic board with letters put out.

- Is interested in reading books, Moomins and playing outside.

- Has gotten very picky with clothes. She would prefer to wear "black pants" (also navy, dark purple and dark grey will do), her shirt with Stinky on it and her "lion" (actually tiger) socks.

- Is getting more empathetic. The cats needed to go to the vet today and she was extremely concerned about this and kept repeating "Cat/Cat name sick, cat sick", and she wanted to pet and hug them.

Language development

- We had another visit from Mia's Canadian grandparents for 2 weeks so English got another boost. So many words now, so I can't count them anymore!

- Says 4-word sentences with correct grammar if she has heard the versions enough, e.g. "Munchy ei taha õue" or "Emme ei taha tööle".

- Will language mix only if she doesn't know the words in respective languages (goes for Estonian and English). Separates very well who speaks which language with me and my husband. At the playground, it is still a little hard for her to interact.

- As she turns 2,5 years, she will get some extra Dutch input at daycare in a small group.

- Will use "mine" and "me" in English and "ikke" in Dutch about herself. In Estonian she still says "M" about herself.

- Still loves to look at and to hear stories from books very much. On a day at home with her, you will go through 20 of them at least.

Sleep

- Went through a period of having a hard time going to sleep and sleeping through the night (maybe coming back from holidays and returning to daycare all was a bit much), but is back on track!

Eating

- Likes to sit on our lap when eating now, so we need to get her back to her own seat. Likes simple foods, pasta, rice. Will eat sweet things if she gets a chance. Her favourites are cookies and ice cream!
