This has been a big and so far the hardest month of little O's life. We went to Estonia for 10 days around Christmas time, so he flew for the first time and did pretty well. We faced the first cold and he had trouble with the side effects of the rotavirus vaccine (digestion issues) and the other 3rd month vaccines (fever, achy, crying etc).
Development
Follows us with eyes
Turns his head around
Can stay on the belly for about 5 min, will flip around then
Since 2 mo 3 weeks can move his hand targeted way and grab something above him. Loves his play gym (Lovevery gotten from the neighbors) and sitting in the Babybjorn chair. He can turn the toy of this chair after 1 time of trying!
Recognizes us, smiles and laughs and makes cooing sounds.
Feeding
Still breastfed plus bottle (EBM and formula, around 200-300 ml per day, 1/3 and 2/3). Breastfeeding can be hard at times still.
Refused the bottle some time, but we sized up the nipple and that went better. Now it is important not to push him! Some times of the day will offer the bottle first to keep the good association going and manage that he gets enough ml supplement.
Is more aware of his mouth, will bring his hands to it (mainly left) and can blow bubbles.
Sleeping
Got him to sleep in his own bed from 7 pm instead of the carrier from 2 mo 2 weeks. (That means I will also go to sleep around that time after having prepared for the ight and cleaned up).
Naps in his own bed (next to our bed) at least 1 time a day also.
Around 10 weeks started doing 45 min naps, needs our help to get to the next cycle. Will connect the naps himself only in the carrier (and sadly not in the stroller like the big sis did).
He now has his own schedule (see below), but he created it himself.
Nights are fine (only with the 3rd developmental leap - supposedly - he woke way more frequently, but now usually around midnight and 4 am. Has slept max 5 h 45 min in a row.
Transition from 1 to 2
Things have settled a bit. I am paying still less attention to M than I would like. I try take her to ballet just by myself and go to cinema or something every week. Otherwise her dad is busy with the morning lately and takes her to school. We have after school care for her 2 times a week since January too.
I think back to times when he was really new and she wanted to show him to everyone, the people at the cafe, the teacher, people at the petting zoo.
Other
We started going to baby massage and yoga course and to Mom in Balance workouts. Getting out of the house is still a challenge of planning and packing!
Best things we have this time and didn't have last time
Voksi sleeping bag in the stroller and car seat
Babybjorn rocking chair
Woven sling
Playgym (Lovevery)
What we didn't use (or haven't used so far)
Najell sleep carrier
Baby nest (very little use)
Nursing pillows
Clothes in several pieces and nice outfits (he lives in 1 piece playsuits with zippers, I love the POP ones!)
Measurements
14-1: 5,475 kg, 62,4 cm. Is outgrowing size 50, also some 56.
Schedule
6:30/7:00 wakeup, feeding
8/8:30 first nap
This is followed by 3 more naps with awake time of 1,5 h in between; one nap (first one) in his cosleeper, last nap in the carrier/sling.
Around 19 bedtime in the cosleeper
Around 23/00 wakes up for feeding, has 2 more feeds at night
