First trimester
M will be a big sister. She is very much looking forward to that but still wants the baby to be a girl only :-D
This pregnancy has been very different from my first one though. I was nauseus before taking the pregnancy test that was positive and that lasted on and off until 14 weeks (4-9 weeks unbearable, using emasefene). I was also immediately very tired and still need about 9 hours of sleep and despite that could fall asleep easily at daytime.
This time I am going to another midwife practice where they do early ultrasounds, so we saw the baby at 8 weeks, 10 weeks (termijnecho), 13 weeks (new 13 week medical ultrasound) and have a 20-week echo scheduled too.
I travelled 2 times during the first trimester, once for a conference to Alicante (turbulence and nausea is not a good combination) and once for a work conference to Maastricht. This meant I was away from home 2 times for 3 nights, this has rarely happened before.
I definitely think that this pregnancy is getting less attention than the previous one due to work and caring for M.
Second trimester
Nausea went and came again, thankfully less bad than at first, but as I'm writing this, I was still nauseus at 26 weeks...
I have felt the baby move since week 17 and it has been daily and quite a lot lately as well, with M it was from 21 weeks. Anterior placenta and a second baby this time, I guess.
Beginning of June, we found out we are expecting a baby boy in October. It was a bit of a surprise, but we got used to it quickly. I am sometimes still doubting if I know how to raise a boy and it is surprising to see how people are reacting by saying that my husband must be glad to have a boy in the family (still going on...). Big sister has gotten used to it by now but she still checks once in a while if this might be a little girl.
There was a parvovirus outbreak in the NL when I was around 20 weeks, which made me scared and got me reading too many articles etc about it. After hearing I haven't had it, we decided to cancel our attendance to our yearly camping trip with Estonians. It was hard but pregnancy anxiety can be big. It has settled a bit by now.
Tiredness though has not gone anywhere (but has gotten somewhat less than at first). Low BP must be a part of it, last midwife checkup it was 80/48, with normal HR.
M broke her foot sadly in July so for a week things were even tougher with her sleeping worse and needing to be carried around. The cast was removed in a week thankfully.
We had grandparents from Canada over from May to July to not use afterschool care for M and it was nice to need to do less.
Flew 2 times during the 2nd trimester (2 x Estonia) and had another weekend away (with the two of us to Estonia).
Little snippets from here and there:
started wearing pregnancy clothes after announcing I'm expecting, so around 13-14 weeks, so comfortable!
didn´t need to do any night and evening shifts from April, what a relief. I felt very defensive around aggression before and just tired.
as we have more to spend, I have also spent more during this pregnancy. We now (as of week 26) have everything apart from a few things I'm keeping in the registry. The stroller (getting another running stroller) is arriving in August and we still have M's old one.
I've wanted to have everything ready asap, so the baby room was done week 17.
I really notice everything is earlier and harder this pregnancy, but I´m also very much looking forward to these nice things from the last time, such as sitting with a sleeping baby on the couch being amazed at how cute they are :-)
